Civic Reception

On Thursday the 10th October the brethren of Lodge Crawfurdsburn No 1121 were invited by Provost Robert Moran and the Councillors of Inverclyde to attend a Civic Reception in Greenock Town Hall to mark the occasion of the Lodge’s Centenary. Along with the brethren of Lodge Crawfurdsburn the RW Substitute Master, Brother Alexander Galbraith and the RW Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire Wes, Bro James Pearston Livingstone t were invited to attend this special occasion for the Lodge and the Province.

The brethren assembled for a drinks reception in the Provost’s Room prior to moving through to have an excellent three course meal in the Grand Corridor. After the meal Provost Moran made a fine speech commenting on the charitable works that Freemasons have done for the town over the years. He then presented the RW Master of Lodge Crawfurdsburn, Bro George Johnstone Carson with a beautiful crystal vase inscribed “Presented by the Provost and Councillors of Inverclyde to mark the  Centenary of Lodge Crawfurdsburn Greenock 1121.” RW Master George Carson replied to the Provosts speech commenting on how the council and Freemasonry had worked to help the communities in the area over the years and in some measure to continue that tradition he presented Provost Moran with a cheque for £1121 for the Provost’s Fund.

The RW Substitute Grand Master, Alex Galbraith then made a speech on behalf of the Grand Lodge of Scotland and thanked Provost Moran and the Council for an excellent evening.
